Our client is a substantial real estate investor and hospitality operator who has developed considerable success over the past few years with a dual strategy of investing in direct real estate and also enhancing good quality hospitality & accommodation focused operating business. As a result of an expansion in their activities, they want to appoint a Group Director of Finance who will report into the Group CFO.
The Group Director of Finance will be responsible for the optimization and consolidated reporting of the Group’s properties ensuring maintenance of appropriate control systems over income, expenditure, assets and liabilities that drive improvement of the overall return on investment.
The successful candidate will respond directly to requests from the CEO, CFO, and COO, but also take the initiative to understand and improve the business, and help senior management meet the Group’s long -erm financial objectives. The Group Director of Finance will be supported by a team of well-organized and experienced financial controllers.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ability to produce, accurate and timely financial information in relation to the management of all company assets
- To support the COO in the day to day commercials of the Group, in terms of its strategic business decisions, displacement models, cost saving exercises and to identify new revenue streams.
- To consistently challenge revenue and cost opportunities for the Group, to ensure the business that the Group assets are financially viable and profitable.
- Review KPI reports for the business and improving inefficiencies and provide both the COO and CFO with proposed action plans.
- To provide the Group’s board with accurate and timely financial information to effectively manage their operations and assets.
- The new appointee is required to play an active role in the management of the Groups accommodation.
- Prepare key financial exception reports and analyses to help meet and measure the success of this objective.
- To oversee all contracts and licenses that exist throughout the Group’s properties working with the operations managers and the finance team to ensure full legal compliance exists.
- To work in conjunction with the company’s Director of Technology and the Groups Director of IT in line with all GDPR / data security requirements.
- To organise an efficient treasury functions to provide proper management of the Group’s working capital and cash flow
- To ensure all legal, treasury and tax documentation is properly maintained
- To ensure adequate insurance coverage is maintained to protect the assets of the hotels
- To establish comprehensive credit and collection policies for all operations, based on good industry practice
The person:
- Degree level (Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field or equivalent Financial experience)
- Relevant professional qualifications ACA, ACCA or CIMA.
Experience:
- Extensive experience in financial management e.g., ability to analyze P&L statements, develop operating budgets, prepare a short and long term forecast and champion capital expenditure planning and assest management.
- Experience in financial asset management across the real estate and/or hospitality sectors
- Track record in a leadership/senior management role.
