Group Financial Controller

Hamilton Woods Executive Search are looking to appoint a Group Financial Controller with technical "SOX" and "US GAAP" experience for our client, a listed US Owned IT / Online Media business which has recently doubled in size, primarily due to further acquisitions.


As Group Financial Controller, you will be technically strong and have the ability to maintain the smooth running of this established finance team but also show great people skills with past experience of managing a diverse finance function, in order to get the best out of your team.


  • Firstly, you will directly be managing a team of 8 who manage a wider team of nearly 40 staff in the finance team, across all disciplines, covering business unit sales and cost teams, AR & AP
  • You will take full responsibility for the Financial Controls and Processes of the Group from a Sarbanes Oxley ("Sox") perspective
  • You will be a natural leader and people manager who helps to coach the team, driving individual performance and continual improvement with a strong emphasis on developing the team to work in a more autonomous way
  • You will quickly identify gaps in skill and work with the team to bridge these gaps
  • You ideally have had past experience of implementing ERP systems.
  • You'll be able to identify system improvements that can help to refine financial processes, whilst also making sure that the integrity of that information is of paramount importance
  • Whilst generating the information is important, so is what you use it for! You will be someone who challenges the status quo and uses financial information to drive business outcomes and changes in behaviour across all levels of the organisation's leadership team

    • A sound technical background
    • ACCA/ACA/CIMA qualified with at least 5 years PQE
    • Highly computer literate and familiar with all Microsoft office tools
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Excellent people skills and man management
    • Experience of implementing an ERP system, ideally Microsoft Dynamic 365 desirable but not essential
    • Demonstrable experience of working in a pressurised environment where tight deadlines are paramount
    • Experience of working with a US owned business and USGAAP essential along with past exposure to Sarbanes Oxley ("Sox")

  • Basic Salary - £75,000 - £85,000 per annum
