Your new company
nasen (National Association for Special Educational Needs) is a membership charity organisation that supports all education practitioners. Providing Continuing Professional Development (CPD), resources, advice, information and much more to enable all staff to meet the needs of their pupils. nasen are recruiting an ambitious Head of Finance to support the Commercial & Finance Director by managing the day-to-day finance function, in addition to supporting nasen’s strategic priorities as a member of the Senior Leadership Team. nasen is on a growth journey and has doubled its income in each of the last 3 years. This high profile role comes at a crucial stage of this journey and is key in building a strong control framework and playing a leading role in commercially guiding the organisation.
Your new role
As part of nasen’s Senior Leadership Team you will provide effective and efficient financial management and accounting, including monthly reporting and planning as well as statutory annual accounts including the VAT submission. You will think strategically, create a robust control framework and implement business partnering. You will require excellent IT skills to support the charity on its ambitious growth trajectory and will be able to utilise these skills to simply present complex financial and non-financial data to support decision making. You will also build and manage a small team.
What you'll need to succeed
You will be an inspiring and qualified accountant who is competent and proficient with a real interest in the charity and/or the education sector. You will enjoy using your initiative as well as your accounting knowledge and you will be a quick learner. You will have strong verbal & written communication skills, be confident in liaising with the Executive team and Board of Trustees, and confident in both supporting and challenging budgets and spend. Ideally you will have experience of an ERP implementation.
