Finance Director

Finance Director at Leading Global Talent Management Company Specialising in Rugby 

Working as an integral part of the executive management the Finance Director will have a passion for sport and will work alongside the Board.  The successful candidate will not only be an exceptional accountant and hands-on with company and group finances, but also bring broad commercial expertise to bear. 

The Role:

• Lead the group’s finance function.
• Manage a small global finance team of 5 people.
• Contribute fully to the development of company strategy across all areas of the business, challenging assumptions and decision-making as appropriate and providing financial analysis and guidance on all activities, plans, targets and business drivers.
• Ensure that company financial systems are robust, compliant and support current activities and future growth.
• To be alert for any financial, tax, regulatory or other risks that the Board need to take action on.
• Be  responsible for the group’s cash management policies.
• Be proactive in future planning to safeguard the assets of the company and increase return to the owners.
• To be the primary liaison with external advisors including; legal counsel, external auditors, accounting professionals.
• Ensure finance and regulatory compliance across the group in terms of VAT/GST returns, payroll submissions, pension submissions, corporate tax returns, statutory accounts filings.
• To take control of the company secretarial duties of the Holding company & its subsidiaries.
• Maintain the HR cloud-based system.

Candidate Requirements:

• Qualified member of an accountancy body or holder of an equivalent qualification.
• Previous experience of working for an owner managed business is important  The ideal candidate will have a strong private equity network and have had previous fund-raising experience.
• An interest in sports is important.
• Holding senior finance positions (FD / CFO) in a global business.
• Ideally from an SME background, with demonstrable experience in partnering the Board and understanding the unique requirements of owner managed businesses.
• Commercially astute and aware across all business functions, not just finance.
• High integrity and openness combined with commitment to strong governance.
• Energetic, highly motivated, with an enquiring mind and passion for excellence and innovation in pursuit of business growth and success.
• Prior working experience with Xero Accounting software will be beneficial.
