Ariat Europe(AE) is a mid-size t/o equestrian/western/country/work and safety footwear, apparel and accessory business operating across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. AE is employing 55 people. AE is a wholly owned subsidiary of Ariat International Inc, a San Francisco based, privately owned company, which is a world leader in equestrian/western, work, outdoor and fashion footwear, apparel and accessories. Ariat Europe works closely with colleagues in the US on product design, development, purchasing and other business functions. The manufacturing process is in majority completed in Asia, with the majority of those products then sold via wholesalers, distributors, agents and direct to consumer. The scope for growth is high as new markets and avenues for sale can be explored. The Finance Director will report to the Managing Director and lead, train and develop a team of five staff including a qualified Financial Controller. You will form a close working relationship with the MD and act as a member of the Ariat Europe senior leadership team, providing support to the financial strategy of the business and optimising financial performance in partnership with the US. You will contribute fully to the development of the strategy across all areas of the business including leadership of the Brexit transition across Europe and challenge assumptions and decisions as appropriate.

The nature of the role is very hands on and whilst you have a team you will need to take full responsibility for ensuring that the budget planning process is robust and reviewed as required as well as providing financial analysis, management of the finance department and guidance, banking, insurance, annual audits, tax filings etc. You will present monthly, quarterly and annual accounts to the management/leadership teams in AE as well as to the parent company, as appropriate and ensure that all regulatory requirements and legal compliance are maintained. There may be future requirements for support with corporate finance issues including debt, equity, disposals and acquisitions.

The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant with excellent attention to detail, yet able to operate as an agent of change and strategic business partner. You will have experience of leading a finance function in a SME company that operates across Europe, multi-currency management of consumer goods and wholesale and direct to consumer sector background is highly preferable. SAP or SAGE knowledge and experience of reporting to an overseas parent would be extremely beneficial. You will be able to demonstrate a high level of integrity, commercial nous and an enquiring mind.
