Financial Controller (immediate start available)

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Financial Controller seeking a rewarding role with a diverse and ambitious company. You will be working for an entrepreneur who owns a portfolio of businesses covering hospitality, retail and property in the East Lancashire area. At the moment there is an established small finance team in need of some coaching and development but there is a real need to improve the quality of financial reporting to support decision making and improve efficiency. My client is looking to replicate an already successful business model and explore expansion options so this is truly an exciting time to join!

The ideal candidate would be a strong self-starter with previous experience of running a finance department and implementing new procedures and best practice. The key duties associated with this role will be:

• Ownership of the month end close and management accounts production
• Reviewing the numbers and providing commentary
• Driving department KPI’s with improved MI for managers
• Developing daily flash/dashboard reporting for the directors
• Implementing cost centre reporting and analysis
• Reporting on stock movement and stock valuation
• Managing transactional team, cash and banking
• Reviewing payroll, VAT and HMRC matters
• Preparing cashflows, budgets and forecasts
• Liaising with banks and external accountants / advisers

Experience of implementing and improving IT systems would be very advantageous in this role, in particular SAGE and EPOS software controlling high volumes of cash and card transactions. Key objectives will be to improve the timeliness of monthly reporting and review all areas where finance can add value, reduce cost and improve efficiency. Your input will support commercial decision making and you should be willing to offer opinions and challenge current methods to widen financial understanding throughout the business. You will become part of the senior management team on site and the role will be based in a pleasant, modern office environment.
