Fantastic opportunity for an experienced Financial Controller to join a large privately owned Wholesale business at their Global head office in Manchester. The business has been achieving year on year growth and sales are now approaching £400m with further growth planned for the coming years.

The role is the right hand person to the FD and responsible for leading a team of circa 25 within Finance. The FD is looking for a commercially focused individual with the gravitas to influence Senior Management and the board. As the role will be standing in for the FD throughout the year, they are committed to developing the successful individual in areas needed in order to make you a more rounded FC and ready for a longer term FD role.

This is an entrepreneurial business that has identified and capitalised on opportunities within new markets over recent years. So whilst that is exciting, it is also demanding and therefore this is not your typical 9-5 and switch off type role. They have invested in the Finance department infrastructure over recent years and are also looking to implement a new ERP that will help streamline some of the workload.

The work is varied across Commercial, Management and Technical Accounting from having overall responsibility for ensuring month end is complete and accurate to the production and review of commercial management information as well as being responsibility for statutory audit and tax packs.

So what are they looking for? Well a Qualified Accountant that has operated at FC level with exposure to leading large teams. You must come from a Stock holding company background so people within Wholesale, Manufacturing, FMCG, Retail or Logistics/Distribution. Experience with Statutory Accounts and tax pack completion is advantageous but not essential however a willingness to learn and develop in this area is. A strong, driven and commercially focused individual that identifies areas of improvement and drives change.

In return you will receive a package between £75,000 to £85,000 base plus bonus, pension and 25 days holiday. The business has performed very well during Covid and adapted to working from home however there is a need to work from the office on a split basis currently so candidates must be within a sensible commute of Manchester.
