Payroll Manager, Part Time (3 days a week) £35,000 to £45,000
Axon Moore are looking for an immediately available Payroll Manager for a Part Time opportunity (circa 3 days per week) for our client based in the Preston area. This role will be an immediate interview / start and is an ongoing requirement.
You will look after a small team of payroll analysts and clerks with a various levels of experience, plus manage a complex payroll of circa 3500 with multiple payrolls and a combination of monthly and weekly. You will also have the opportunity to make improvements to the new payroll system and implement processes and procedures to suit.
Duties:
• Manage a team of 5 payroll clerks with a variety of experience levels. Responsible for hiring, training and mentoring.
• Overall responsibility for the processing of payroll across several companies
• Process improvements, driving improvements to processes and controls, including introduction of new systems/processes
• Processing of monthly payroll and quarterly pensions
• Working with HR team to implement company payroll and expense policies
• Reconciling PAYE accounts and making payments to HMRC
• Dealing with HMRC or external bodies queries regarding payroll
• Year-end payroll processing including P60’s, P11d’s, PAYE settlement agreements
• Monthly pension reconciliations and reporting for group and auto enrolment schemes
• Processing payroll deductions
• Resolving queries re payroll, expenses and tax
• Assisting the payroll team in processing expenses and credit card statements
• Ensuring all expense claims and credit cards are returned to the team and processed i
• Process improvements, driving improvements to processes and controls, including introduction of new systems/processes
Person Specification:
• Minimum 5 years’ experience as a payroll manager
• Core HR advantageous
• Good excel skills are essential
• CIPP qualified or equivalent
• Significant payroll knowledge and experience
• Understanding of current payroll legislation
• Strong excel skills
• Able to work to tight deadlines
• Experience with system implementations advantageous.
Working from home for the foreseeable future, in the long run you will be based in the head office in Preston.
