Rent Accountant

An exciting opportunity presents itself in this newly-created role with a fast-growing property company! One of the leading companies in its field, this national provider with ambitious plans for continued growth is looking to add a further Rent Accountant to its team. Working alongside the existing Rent Accountant, this role also supports the Financial Controller.

Your main responsibilities will include:

• Acting as internal and external liaison point for all financial entries relating to the organisation's rental housing manager, ensuring transactions are appropriately reconciled
• Reviewing service charge actuals and updating the rent ledger for correct service charge amounts to tenants annually
• Maintaining the rent ledger and taking responsibility for posting rent journals to the general ledger
• Taking ownership of Net Operating Income P&L lines, posting accruals and prepayments and reviewing accounts to ensure accuracy
• Working closely with the Management Accountant to ensure smooth running of the month end process; working closely with the Financial Controller to support the year end statutory accounts preparation

The successful candidate will:

• Have strong prior experience working in rent accounting
• Be an excellent communicator, both verbally and written
• Have advanced Excel skills (not including macros) and confidence manipulating high volumes of data
• Be working towards an accountancy qualification, or be a qualified accountant
