A Family Investment Office in Chester requires a diligent and technically capable qualified Accountant to join as Finance Manager for a 12-month contract and provide support on Financial Reporting and the management and control of the Treasury function.
The role can be either full time or can be adapted to 28 hours/week which can be worked flexibly – hence could be 4 full days/week or alternatively 9:30am – 4pm 5 days/week. At present the role will be working from home with occasional visits to the office in Chester.
The Role
Reporting to the Senior Financial Reporting and Treasury Manager this is a varied role which requires you to work closely with an Assistant Management Accountant, providing coaching, day to day hands on support and guidance. Key responsibilities of the Finance Manager will include:
Financial Reporting – Responsibility for the production and review of quarterly management accounts, year-end statutory accounts, budgets and forecasts for a number of trusts and other entities, ensuring that reporting deadlines are met at all times. This includes:
- Preparation of management accounts and budgets
- Review of management accounts and budgets prepared by other members of the Financial Reporting & Treasury Team
- Preparation and review of annual financial accounts prepared under UK GAAP
- Preparation and review of monthly cash flows, making decisions on future cash flow requirements
- Assist in the preparation of the Annual Finance Review
Treasury – Provide support with the control and management of the Treasury function, including taking the lead in reporting and liquidity management. This includes:
- Manage the efficient placement of cash within compact limits in a manner consistent with the objectives of the Family Office and wider Group
- Review of monthly Treasury Report prepared by the Assistant Management Accountant
- Ensure all internal policies and external legislation are adhered to and all compliance documentation is up to date; Monitor external sources for changes to legislation/Government policy/interest or tax rates
- Liaise with London Treasury Team
- Ensure that all main treasury procedures are fully documented
The Candidate
The successful Finance Manager will be a self-motivated, qualified Accountant who works to high personal standards. Key attributes include:
- Technically strong qualified accountant (ACA) with practical accounting experience. Specific knowledge of trust accounting would be an advantage but is not essential.
- Practical experience of financial systems and proficiency with Microsoft applications (including advanced Excel skills.)
- Attention to detail and dedication to providing quality, error free work to tight deadlines.
- A team player with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with multi-disciplinary teams and with external advisers.
This is a 12-month contract. Applicants should ideally be available to start within 2 weeks.
