INTERIM FINANCE DIRECTOR

9 – 12 months

£120,000 to £140,000 FTC / up to £650 per day

Pratap Partnership are delighted to be exclusively partnering with a rapidly growing privately owned business in West Yorkshire, to help in the appointment of an Interim Finance Director. This role is a critical hire for a business going through a significant growth phase and requires an experienced finance director with a track record to offer stability to an existing finance function and provide financial leadership. The role will report into the MD, and work with the wider Exec Board, leading a finance team, and a wider team across different business units with a total headcount of around 20. The successful interim candidate will offer a period of financial stewardship, stability and leadership during this tenure.

Purpose:

The FD will provide a mix of relevant and proven experience with functional and commercial skill, while being a positive cultural fit within the group and the leadership team. The FD will fully participate as a member of the Exec Board, and be involved in the planning, management and execution of the business strategy and delivery of planned outcomes, as well as being a custodian of the finance function. The interim finance director must be able to challenge where appropriate and offer ideas for change in line with company vision and values.

FD Role Overview:

• Working alongside the MD and Exec Board, the Finance Director will be commercially aware and be able to work closely with the Board around setting and leading all aspects of financial strategy, including commercial business partnering with operations, and other business units.
• The Finance Director will lead a team across different business units, including finance, procurement, business support, security, IT and Health and Safety.
• The role will be located in the outskirts of Leeds, adapting to any current or future working from home policy.

The Person

• An experienced Finance Director and qualified member of an accountancy body (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
• Experience within retail, supply chain, and e-commerce are highly desirable
• Commercially astute, articulate and technically strong
• Influential leader with the ability to stand their ground, provide challenge and willing to operate at both strategic and operational levels
• Ability to handle the pressure of a rapidly growing business
• Able to make and follow through on critical decisions
• Energetic and highly motivated

Duties and Responsibilities

• To work closely with the MD, other Senior Executives and Non-Executives as part of the team leading the business
• Leader of the company finance function which includes an experienced Financial Controller and finance team located in Leeds
• As part of the leadership team, contribute to the development of the business plan across all areas, challenging assumptions and decision making, and provide the financial analysis and guidance on all activities and plans.
• Lead the Company budgetary process
• Review the financial information, recommend and take actions as required to improve profitability
• Take responsibility for management information and reporting to the board
• Ultimate responsibility for the company cash management policies
• Maintain and develop relationships with all stakeholders, bankers, auditors and tax advisors
• To ensure the business has best practice financial systems, processes and controls in place and ensure these are fit for purpose as the business scales
• To develop the financial and operational KPI reporting and management information
• Ensure that all financial practices are in line with statutory regulations and legislation.
