VAT Accountant

The overall objective of the role is to support Tax Compliance Manager with all tax compliance matters pertaining to the UK Group. Working alongside and providing support to other members of the tax team covering all aspects of tax with a specific focus on VAT, Customs and CIS compliance.

Description

Timely and accurate tax compliance obligations, including:

- Preparation of the VAT returns for companies and JVs;

- Preparation of monthly Intrastat supplementary returns

- Preparation of EC sales list supplementary returns;

- Preparation of CIS monthly returns;

Assist the team in other areas of tax that include but are not limited to;

- Provision of tax technical advice to the business on VAT, Customs, CIS and other taxes;

- Assist the business with preparation for Making Tax Digital in April 2021;

- Assist the business with preparation for Domestic Reverse Charge in March 2021;

- Provide day to day support to the business post implementation of MtD and DRC in 2021;

Profile

Qualification

- CTA qualified or qualified by experience

- Can be from practice or industry

Other essential requirements

- Excellent technical knowledge across taxes but mainly in VAT, Customs and CIS;

- General understanding of accounting standards and practices;

- Attention to detail;

- Ability to adapt and learn quickly;

- Proficient with analysing financial data;

- Computer-literate;

- Excellent research skills;

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;

- Self-motivated;

- Comfortable working under pressure;

- Strong and effective management of tight and conflicting deadlines
