A global FMCG business based in Surrey is looking to recruit a UK Tax Manager to join the tax team for a full-time, permanent role.
Responsibilities
Key duties of the Tax Manager will include:
- Supporting and providing UK tax advice to the business (covering Direct, Indirect and Employment Taxes), undertaking detailed technical analysis, and managing input from external advisors and other team members as required.
- Managing the UK compliance and reporting activity for corporate tax and VAT, with support from the business unit finance teams. Proactively identifying and implementing process and technology enhancements.
- Assisting with wider UK tax governance and control activities and playing a key role in managing the relationship with HMRC.
- Supporting other global tax reporting, governance, technology, and transformation projects.
Role Effectiveness
The UK Tax Manager role requires:
- A self-starter, with a strong grasp of UK tax principles in at least one key area (direct or indirect tax) and the aptitude to quickly develop skills and expertise in the other relevant aspects of UK tax.
- An enthusiasm for new challenges and opportunities is key. There will be a significant degree of change, both internal (due to an ongoing transformation program across the organisation) and external, so the successful candidate will need to be agile and adaptable, and able to build strong relationships and work collaboratively.
Ideal Profile
- CTA/ACA/ACCA qualified
- 2 years PQE or at least 3 years' experience in a tax role
- Strong experience in either UK Corporate Tax or UK VAT.
- Experience in industry
- Mixed UK tax experience across direct, indirect and employment taxes
Knowledge and Skills
The Tax Manager should demonstrate:
- In-depth understanding of UK direct tax and / or indirect tax legislation and compliance requirements
- Understanding and interpretation of business accounts and IFRS tax accounting principles.
- Ability to interpret and analyse UK tax legislation
- High degree of numeracy
- IT literate in Excel and Word
- Project management skills
- Oracle experience
- Alphatax experience
- Tax advisory experience, either in practice or in-house
- Use and implementation of tax technology/other finance reporting systems
Salary
On offer for the UK Tax Manager will be £55,000 - £60,000 per annum, dependent on experience, plus 20% bonus.
