Private equity backed and working with some of the UK’s largest blue-chip, food and non-food retailers including Asda, Boots, Primark, Lidl, Morrisons, M&S, Sainsbury’s and Argos, turnover is around £70m with ambitious growth plans in place. We are delighted to be retained exclusively to lead the search for an Interim Finance Manager. This is a critical interim role for the busines and will be a key interim appointment to assist the business during a period of exciting change.

The successful candidate will be responsible for all financial transactional processing, including cash management, VAT and CIS reporting and compliance. You will lead the Purchase Ledger and Accounts Receivable teams whilst supporting the Finance Director in all financial aspects within the business. The role is pivotal in driving continuous improvement, streamlining processes and embedding a cash backed culture.

Other key duties of this role will include:

  • Manage the Transactional Services Team
  • Ensuring all financial processes impacting transactions in the business are clearly defined, documented and communicated with business stakeholders,
  • Managing the Intercompany reconciliation process on a monthly basis
  • Responsible for the Group fixed assets process and maintaining the fixed asset register. Ensuring suitable controls and policies (CAPEX) are in placed to safeguard the assets of the business.
  • Ensure the full Group balance sheet is reconciled on a timely basis, with personal responsibility for all key ledger control accounts 
  • Help maximise cash within the division through proactive, effective and proportionate management of working capital, fostering a culture of cash-backed profit.
  • Joint responsibility with Finance Manager – FP&A for the production and presentation of the monthly 13 week rolling cashflow report, ensuring clear understanding and communication of key variances and key messages.
  • Review and production of the Sigma Group VAT return, including key reconciliations and analysis as appropriate.
  • Ensuring compliant and timely reporting in line with all HMRC regulations, guidelines and deadlines, e.g. CIS, RCT, group VAT returns including TCBL, Intrastat.

To be considered for this role it is essential the candidate meets the following criteria:

  • ACA/ACCA qualified, with significant post qualification experience
  • Able to mentor, develop and manage a finance team
  • Be able to business partner across the wider business, and work with senior stakeholders
  • Significant experience of Finance / ERP systems, as well as strong Excel and other Office software experience
