Hays are recruiting for a highly successful international luxury retail brand and are looking for an exceptional Credit Manager to join a forward-thinking and progressive finance team. This company produces high quality products and is a recognised market leader, employing 1500 staff in the UK and turning over around £160m per year.
This company has recently relocated the customer service and credit control functions to new offices in Harlow and are keen to find the right candidate to join them at the start of a new era.
Your new role
The main purpose of the role will be to oversee all credit and collections functions for the UK business. This will include the maintenance and development of credit policy and procedure as well as team development and customer strategy. More specifically you will be tasked with:
- Managing the company credit policy and procedures within the levels of authorisation to maximise sales and minimise risk.
- Managing the team training and development via the Training Matrix.
- Undertake performance reviews in line with company policy.
- Collaborate with other teams on continuous improvement initiatives.
- Promote the Customer Portal and its further development.
- Prepare and distribute periodic aged debt, DSO, financial and query management reports in accordance with the group norms and timescales.
- Supporting the sales teams with the processing and verification of new account applications, credit limit reviews, account closures and Customer Master file maintenance.
- Ensure all debit/credit claims and queries are processed in a timely manner and within authorised sanction limits.
- Personally manage the Intensive care accounts.
- Managing the debit note reporting and resolution.
- Managing the returns process and credit creation.
- Prepare and present to the Head of Credit detailed information regarding all outstanding items. Any material incidents of late payment for the major accounts must immediately be communicated to the Head of Credit.
- Manage sub-division accounting; duties include collections & obtaining, collating and entering Self Billing Invoice details onto the customer account, raising invoice requests and also ensuring that all queries are dealt with in a timely manner.
- Manage the monthly B2C account reconciliations for E-comm and the Retail outlets.
- Ensure all standard office clerical duties are to be performed in a timely manner and as we are a customer facing department, we also deal with many incoming telephone calls/queries from customers and other departments.
- Covering absences of staff from the office, in particular Senior Credit Controller function.
This is a full time role working Monday to Friday. Initially the role will be home based but with the medium to long term objective being a fully office based role. This position will also require occasional travel to London.
What you'll need to succeed
- Minimum of 5 years' relevant Credit Control experience: essential that some has been gained in a Retail Credit Control environment.
- A good educational standard is required and relevant CICM level 5 qualification is essential.
- Demonstrable team development and management skills.
- Must be computer literate with working knowledge of accounting software and good Word & Excel experience is essential.
- Demonstrable efficient time management, prioritisation and organisational skills
- Attention to detail is essential.
- Good Communication skills are essential.
- Clean driving license.
