Based in Elstree, Hertfordshire, our global, pharmaceutical, and innovative client is a seeking a top 4 Assistant Financial Controller to join their busy team on a permanent basis. With a turnover of over $500m and offices across the globe this would be a great company to start your industry career.

This job would suit an ACA qualified Accountant who is up to date on the IFRS accounting standards. You will have broad accounting experience with responsibility of preparing accounts in a large Pharmaceutical or manufacturing entity. Experience of producing consolidated accounts with foreign subsidiaries whilst being able to demonstrate where you have made process improvements and driven projects.

Duties will include:

Year End

• Assist with preparing and finalising all Group consolidated and subsidiary statutory accounts to best-in-class standards, in a timely and efficient manner under the applicable accounting standards
• Developing and executing a yearend plan and providing clear guidelines and deadlines for submission of yearend results and all supporting documentation and information required by the Group
• Prepare, review and update disclosure and accounts templates for new reporting requirements
• Managing all queries (both internal and external) relating to the year-end process
• Develop a good working relationship with the auditors and own the yearend audit process ensuring a smooth and timely completion of the process
• Prepare the yearend audit back-up schedules and ensure these are reviewed and approved in a timely manner such that Group reporting is completed in a timely manner as agreed with the shareholder
• Work with the Group Controller on yearend going concern and impairment review process including liaison with Treasury and Group FP&A team
• Work with external tax accountants ensuring group tax provisioning and returns is completed

Technical Accounting

• Keeping up-to-date with changes in IFRS technical accounting standards
• Reporting to management the implications and deadlines for the implementation of the changes required by the updates to the applicable accounting standards
• Assist with preparing technical accounting papers with all implications considered, leading to clear and precise conclusions
