Financial Controller

Crewe

£55,000 - £65,000

Diverse private equity backed group have a requirement for a diligent, confident and experienced Finance Manager / Financial Controller.

You will support the Finance Director with reporting and control across 2 large subsidiaries of the complex group (their primary trading activities in your areas of focus are manufacturing and distribution).

The role is a result of internal promotion and the incumbent will be staying with the group but moving across into another business within the PE portfolio.

You will ideally be someone who qualified within a top/mid tier practice (you will likely have cut your teeth in audit and qualified ACCA or ACA).  It would suit someone who has made their first leap to industry and is now looking for a challenging new position within an environment where they can be stretched whilst having the chance to make a real impact.

The work life balance is sensible – this isn’t someone where you will have to put in 60 hour weeks but it is fast paced and there is plenty going on which will keep your interest.

There is major scope for downstream career progression and development.

The initial remit surrounds financial control and reporting.  The business as usual focuses on statutory accounting, cashflow forecasting / reporting, management of month end tasks, balance sheet integrity and team coaching.  There is significant focus on added value projects – and you’ll need to be someone who loves being involved in improvement projects (better reporting, firmer controls, slicker and more automated processes etc.)

If you are currently looking for a new challenge and have a background in financial accounting / financial management / financial control we would welcome the chance to speak.

You will need:

  • ACCA or ACA completed ideally with a minimum of 3 years post qual experience.
  • Ability to demonstrate that you love making a positive change – reducing time to complete month end, making controls more robust, improving accuracy, automating process – this is a role for proactivity rather than an environment that accepts “it’s what we’ve always done”.
  • Excellent IT skills including Excel.
  • Great interpersonal skills, you’ll manage a small team and work closely with colleagues across all areas of the business.
  • Ambition – the role best suits someone who will want to push on in their career within the group.
