European Operations Finance Manager

12 month Fixed Term Contract

About the Role:

Based in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, my client, a dynamic and progressive business looking for a qualified accountant to join their team as an Operations Finance Manager for a 12 month Fixed term contract.

The company has gone from strength to strength and has an excellent position in their market with a varied product portfolio and a strong pipeline for the future. The European Operations Finance Manager will business partner with the European Finance and Supply Chain Distribution teams, ensuring accurate reporting of costs and analysing warehousing & supply chain activities, identifying trends and outcomes for actions to be taken to drive desired results.

Main responsibilities of the European Operations Finance Manager

  • Supporting the European Supply Chain Director and Operations Finance Team.
  • Supporting the product costing process, distribution & transportation spend analysis, inventory management, internal controls and financial reporting.
  • Analysing COGS and Distribution and Transportation costs to ensure they are complete and correct before GL close.
  • Prepare monthly European Distribution and Transportation (D&T) spend and variances reporting.
  • Work in partnership with Facilities and Operations teams to support actual and budget capital expenditure review, reporting and analysis.
  • Support the Annual Budget and Forecasting process for Operations focused areas such as distribution & warehousing, freight etc.
  • Reviewing the inventory month end file prepared by Logistics and verifying significant items as required.
  • Lead annual Inventory counts from a Finance perspective including preparation and reconciliation activities.
  • Perform monthly reconciliation of inventory for all European Distribution Centers
  • Ensure Company policies with respect to inventories, COGS and distribution expenses are documented and applied consistently across the entire company
  • Prepare and analyse Purchase Price Variances, including recommendations to effectively manage the PPV differences.
  • Testing and validating changes to standard costing and COGS account assignment.
  • Lead bi-annual D&T analysis by market for total Europe ensuring transparency between GL and operational data to be presented by Supply Chain team.
  • Work with Supply Chain teams to investigate and implement cost savings opportunities in cost-to-serve.
  • Coordinate with Supply Chain in further developing Variable Warehousing Cost-to-serve tools.
  • Assist in analysing the performance and identifying cost savings / optimization opportunities for plant manufacturing.
  • Business partnering with Supply Chain/Logistics/Warehousing, Procurement/Sourcing, Sales, Order Management and Facilities teams.

 

 

The Ideal candidate for the European Operations Finance Manager:

  • Qualified accountant with post-qualified business partnering experience ideally in FMCG supporting supply chain.
  • Strong IT skills with advanced Excel and a good working knowledge of SAP are essential, Access / Power BI / Business Intelligence experience would be a distinct advantage.
  • Developed communication (verbal & written) skills with the ability to influence and challenge at all levels across the business.
  • Detail-oriented, with excellent analytical and organizational skills.
  • Self-starter who thrives in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, with the ability to learn and develop new skills
  • Can adapt to new challenges and ways of working.
