A global Bank are looking to recruit a Direct Tax Manager to join their London office.

You will be responsible for assisting with the groups international direct tax compliance and reporting obligations with a particular focus on the UK. The successful candidate will be an integral member of a small but experienced team of tax experts gaining knowledge across a broad range of taxes in a fast-changing commodities and banking environment.

Responsibilities

Tax Compliance

  • Co-ordinate and prepare the UK corporate tax return and UK R&D claim in conjunction with internal stakeholders and external service providers
  • Prepare and track time-limits for claims and elections e. group relief
  • Co-ordinate the preparation of the bank levy computation and bank levy forecasting across the group companies
  • Co-ordinate and prepare the group's Country by Country Reporting obligations
  • Assist with HMRC enquiries and other ad hoc tax queries

Tax reporting

  • Prepare the UK company tax provision and work with overseas Senior Tax Managers to prepare the Bank's consolidated tax disclosures for the annual financial statements including liaison with internal stakeholders and the external auditors as necessary
  • Deliver monthly and quarter end reporting processes for corporate tax including:
  • Preparation of the tax provisions and tax journals
  • Certification and substantiation of direct tax balances in the general ledger
  • Preparation of management information and board reporting packs
  • Preparation of tax forecasts for the Bank across its international footprint
  • Assist in the preparation of US state and city income, franchise and other US direct tax compliance filings together with supporting the accounting of these taxes through the preparation and posting of the tax accruals, working with Finance and Ops as appropriate
  • Maintaining records of the Bank's international registrations and tax filing obligations

Experience required to successfully perform the role:

  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA/ATT or equivalent accounting / tax qualification (part qualified accepted)
  • A knowledge of the UK corporate tax regime with strong tax accounting skills essential
  • User of OneSource (tax software) or similar preferable
  • A working knowledge of SAP preferable
  • Advanced Excel skills essential (pivots, v lookups etc.)
  • Experience in banking / financial services / oil / commodities tax preferred
