Financial Accounting Manager

The Company

Axon Moore are partnering with a fast-moving PE backed business based in Manchester City Centre. This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established and successful business embracing a period of continued growth who are looking to hire an experienced Financial Accounting Manager in a newly created progressive position.

About the role

This role reports into a high calibre Group Financial Controller, with key responsibilities in maintaining strong and robust financial controls and processes. You will be expected to demonstrate strong leadership skills as you will be managing a small finance team, excellent communication skills to assist in the development of the finance department and strong technical ability and good knowledge of accounting standards.

 
Salary - £50k - £55k + bonus + excellent benefits

 
Main Duties

• Production of accurate monthly management accounts (P&L, balance sheet, cashflow statement)
• Responsible for all areas of P&L below gross profit and all areas of balance sheet
• Responsible for maintaining detailed balance sheet reconciliations for all companies.
• Preparation of statutory accounts in accordance with FRS102 and main point of contact for external auditors.
• Budgeting, forecasting and reporting for internal and external stakeholders.
• Month-end ledger close for bank, accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger for all companies.
• Preparation of financial reports on a timely basis, providing accurate commentary and investigation into variances when required.
• Line management of 2 Part Qualified Accountant and Accounts Payable Manager
• Ensure integrity of financial data provided to other areas of the business and to external stakeholders, such as auditors, banks, tax advisors etc.
• Production of monthly Board pack for submission to Directors, Bank and Private Equity owners.
• Production and submission of VAT returns and compliance with HMRC Making Tax Digital requirements.
• Main contact for corporation tax and VAT external advisors.
• Work with corporation tax external advisors and provide information for the preparation of tax computations and tax returns.
• Improvement of financial controls and monthly close procedures.
• Build, develop and maintain strong relationships with Finance colleagues and other senior managers

Person Specification

• ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified Accountant
• 2 years post-qualification experience
• Experience of maintaining/reviewing balance sheet reconciliations or similar financial controls
• Experience of managing a monthly management accounts timetable, including responsibility for month-end ledger close for bank, AP ledger, AR ledger and general ledger
• Experience of financial reporting and Board pack preparation
• Experience of group consolidation and group reporting
• Experience of preparing and/or auditing statutory accounts

• Strong technical knowledge
• Strong numeracy and analytical skills
• Excellent communication skills.
• Previous experience in a PE backed business is desirable
