An interim group financial accountant is required by a high growth, consumer products business based in the West End to bolster their head office function. The company has a pan-European footprint and revenues in excess of £2 Billion. They have recently received investment from a prolific private equity house which has fuelled massive expansion through organic growth and acquisition.

The business has a requirement for an interim to join the team reporting to the Group Financial Controller. The team covers the following areas of responsibility with the division of responsibilities dependent on the skill set and interests of the team members:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of the Group monthly reporting pack for use by Executive Management, Private Equity owners, and lending banks
  • Maintain and control the Group’s consolidation system
  • Tracking of synergy benefits and performance versus PE business case
  • Preparation for and work during exit, including possible IPO and production of listing particulars and supporting materials
  • P&L analysis of business units
  • Working closely with the FP&A team to provide support to the budgeting and forecasting processes plus analysis of actual variances
  • Closely monitor performance of acquisitions versus business case
  • Responsible for accurate acquisition accounting (currently running at circa 10 acquisitions per year)
  • Work with Treasury team to ensure consistency of information between financial system, and treasury reporting, including weekly bank reporting and 13-week cashflow forecasts.
  • Maintenance of Group Finance Manual
  • Work with Corporate Finance team in maintaining five-year plans for the business, and also for use with work on impairment and going concern reviews
  • Support the Group Financial Controller in running the Year end audit process
  • Production of IFRS compliant Group annual report & consolidated financial statements plus financial statements for subsidiary holding companies
  • Preparation of ad-hoc papers for Audit Committee
  • Valuation and accounting for interest rate hedges, embedded derivatives (within Preference Shares) and defined benefit pension accounting
  • Maintain and control lease accounting module in consolidation system in accordance with IFRS 16

Key Requirements:

  • Chartered Accountant from a Big 4 or top 10 audit firm
  • 2+ years post qualified experience working either in practice or in a group function of an international business
  • Strong understanding of IFRS
  • Understanding of the principles of effective financial system processes and controls
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent Interpersonal skills and adept at interacting with individuals at all levels in the business
  • Committed to delivering to agreed timescales with a high degree of accuracy
  • Flexible attitude towards working responsibilities and workload
  • Effective working in teams, both within office and wider teams across the Group
