A leading International (Re)Insurance Group are looking to bolster their Tax team with a senior individual. Reporting to the Head of Tax, the Head of Tax Compliance & Reporting will be responsible for a range of compliance, reporting and tax accounting commitments. In addition, you will be a leading figure with wider finance and change initiatives. This role is to provide a comprehensive direct tax and reporting service to the UK & European business. The key areas of delivery in this role will be:

  • Communication with Tax colleagues to raise or flag material issues or concerns and resolve in an efficient manner.
  • Reviewing and taking appropriate opportunities to improve operational effectiveness and consistency through process, technology and/or people capability development.
  • Leading, motivating and developing a team to deliver high quality outputs in the most effective ways while ensuring their personal and professional development
  • Provide leadership, represent and attend relevant workshops, Working Groups and SteerCo meetings on behalf of the Tax team.
  • Assist with the implementation of recommendations arising from the business initiatives/ projects including process (re)design, full documentation of the end-to-end process and sub processes, standardisation of processes and strengthened controls and governance.
  • Ensuring that all data requirements for tax purposes are appropriately captured and communicated to key internal stakeholders, so that tax requirements are monitored for ongoing
  • Overseeing the year end reporting for tax provisions in statutory accounts.
  • Ensuring that all statutory obligations and reporting requirements for tax purposes and submits accurate and timely tax returns to the relevant tax authorities.
  • Working collaboratively with Head of Indirect Tax and Transfer Pricing, and the Tax Policy and Governance Senior Manager to contribute to the efficient preparation of annual tax reporting obligations such as transfer pricing and Senior Accounting Officer documentation.
  • Support in aligning the Tax Target Operating Model to the Finance Target Operating Model.

This position requires someone with a recognised accounting qualification (CTA, ACA, ACCA) and strong understanding of accounting principles and tax concepts (particularly CT and TP). Knowledge of US GAAP would be preferable. Given the high level of stakeholder interaction you need to be a skilled communicator and be comfortable working at all levels. The individual will have a proven track record in providing overall direction, technical expertise, coordination of requirements and business partnering to complex Tax function.
