Hays Senior Finance are delighted to be partnered with Carrs Group, a large global group Agricultural / Engineering organisation recognised as one of the areas employers of choice. Cumbria is fortunate to be home to their head office and benefits from their continuous growth and global acquisition. After a recent restructure in their Group businesses, they have created 2 new vacancies within their Carrs Engineering Finance team to strengthen the team and develop financial reporting. Your new role Reporting to the Financial Controller you will join a team of 4, working closely with the Engineering Business units and the Carrs Engineering finance team to develop and improve accurate, timely financial reports tailored to their needs and that of the business.
Typical duties of this role will include;

  • Working closely with the Carrs Engineering Finance Team to develop and improve accurate, timely financial reporting
  • Assist the Financial Controller, identifying the drivers of and risks to business unit performance with tailored reports and financial analysis. Supervise the Carrs Engineering Finance Team when the Financial Controller is off site
  • Preparation of consolidated monthly management accounts for Carrs Engineering including commentary, cashflow, KPIs and board reporting packs
  • Prepare statutory accounts for Carrs Engineering with supporting schedules under IFRS for half year and year end
  • Co-ordinating the preparation of the budget, financial forecasts and KPIs, analysing and reporting on variances, managing tax compliance processes, SAO compliance, and the monthly and year end management accounts processes


  The skill and experience required for this Senior Accountant job include: -

  • Qualified ACCA, CIMA, ACA Accountant / Approaching qualification
  • Strong commercial acumen, focusing on the bottom line, understanding the impact of all actions on the business
  • First time movers from Accountancy practice desirable
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a dynamic team to tight reporting deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to business partner within a variety of management teams adding value and support
  • Experience in preparation of statutory accounts from trial balance in accordance with relevant accounting standards
  • Working knowledge of VAT, able to prepare returns and manage payments on account
  • Financial modelling and analysis to support business decision making
  • Manage cash flow by tracking transactions and regularly reviewing internal reports
  • Establish and implement financial reporting systems to comply with regulations and legislation
  • Collaborate with auditing services to ensure proper compliance with all regulation
  • High level of Microsoft Excel skills (Pivot tables vLookups etc…).
