As the Tax Manager, your core responsibilities will be to ensure the Group meets all of its direct and indirect tax reporting requirements

Description

The key responsibilities of this In house Tax Managers position in Bristol (with home/flexible working) are:

  • Optimise tax by effective tax planning for day-to-day operations, projects, new deals and initiatives.
  • Ensuring that the external compliance tax reporting and associated reconciliations are undertaken accurately,
  • Ensuring that the quarterly Corporation Tax financial reporting calculation processes, reconciliations are performed in a timely manner for Group reporting purposes;
  • Identifying, recording, measuring and reporting specific Tax Risk issues as and when they arise, identifying mitigation's and implementing on a risk-prioritised basis;
  • Providing technical tax support to different areas of the business as and when required
  • Monitoring and reviewing strategies, policies and processes relating to the role with a view to managing implementation of improvements to increase efficiency where possible;
  • Managing HMRC relationships and any associated voluntary submissions or enquiries;
  • Developing risk awareness throughout the business to reduce Compliance Risk;
  • Maintaining an appropriate tax transfer pricing policy;
  • Helping to build appropriate awareness, capabilities and sense of ownership with colleagues across the business impacted by tax considerations;
  • Managing UK Group tax risks and Senior Accounting Officer's tax certification process; and
  • Maintaining robust controls and governance for all tax processes.

Profile

Our client is searching for candidates who have/are:

  • ACA/ACCA/CTA qualification or Qualified By Experience
  • Detailed knowledge of the UK tax system - both direct and indirect taxes;
  • Experience of dealing with tax authorities and resolution of queries or specific enquiry management;
  • Project management skills to plan, prioritise and work to meet deadlines;
  • Commercial/practical approach to the application of accounting/tax knowledge;
  • An open and transparent communication style with the ability to listen, influence and challenge appropriately;
  • An ability to discuss/explain tax concepts with staff of all levels;
  • A desire and ability to question and challenge the status quo and build compelling cases for change where appropriate; and
