  • The primary purpose of the role is to provide an accounting and tax service for trust clients
  • The role centres on the management of a portfolio of accounting and tax compliance cases and liaison with the client relationship manager as appropriate

Description

The successful Tax and Trust Accountant can expect to be responsible for:

  • Maintenance of ledgers for clients, ensuring that accounting information is posted, in order to prepare accounts and supporting work papers for manager review and client approval
  • Production of charity and corporate accounts for audit purposes; preparing accounts based on FRS102
  • Production of tax computations
  • Production of reports and reconciliations of clients' accounts ensuring that entries have been made properly
  • Preparation of a number of VAT returns on a quarterly basis
  • Preparation of a number of company accounts and corporation tax returns
  • Liaison with external auditors/independent examiners regarding charity and other accounts and their review
  • Key involvement with testing and implementation of related software as required
  • Visits to the London office may be required
  • Ad hoc reconciliations and schedules as and when required

Profile

The successful Tax and Trust Accountant will:

  • Be skilled at using accountancy and tax software, as well as MS Office
  • Have previous experience in an environment undertaking the preparation of accounts and tax returns for trusts and estates
  • Hold a good knowledge of accounting for Trusts and Estates
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills for liaising with colleagues and external contacts
  • Bring a positive can-do attitude
  • Have the ability to work individually and as part of a team

Ideally, the Tax and Trust Accountant will also:

  • Hold AAT/STEP qualification (or be nearly qualified)
  • Have experience of Wolters Kluwer (previously CCH) practice management, accounting, and tax software
  • Have previous exposure to and understanding of probate matters
  • Possess a good knowledge of tax knowledge in relation to trusts and estates
  • Have the desire to build and maintain great relationships within the accounting team and develop a wider understanding and knowledge of what was CCH
