Cambridge
C£70,000 - £75,000 per annum
The role
WCMC is seeking a personable and proactive person to lead our Finance Team, engage with staff across the organisation and play a key role in advising on strategic issues at Senior Team level. You will enjoy working in a collaborative culture and motivating people to achieve impact. We are seeking a strategic-minded person with demonstrated ability of running a successful finance and accounting team.
About us
WCMC is constituted as a Charity and works in collaboration with UNEP. The charity is run by its CEO who reports directly to the Board of Trustees and works closely with the Director of the UN Environment Programme World Conservation Monitoring Centre to ensure the commercial success and impact of the Centre. We employ around 170 staff, most of whom are technical experts providing information and advice on matters related to solving the global crises facing nature and climate. The Finance team currently includes 4 full time roles.
Key responsibilities
The Head of Finance will hold responsibility and accountability for all aspects of the financial management of WCMC including budget preparation, financial risk management and strategic financial planning, informed by regular analysis and reporting of WCMC’s financial strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats.
As well as leading the finance and accounting team, the Head of Finance works closely with senior managers across the organisation on the preparation of project budgets, contracts, cash flow management and assessment of project margins. Setting up and running reliable and clear processes around revenue recognition and the timing of surplus recognition are key challenges.
Candidate requirements
The successful applicant must be a fully qualified accountant (ACCA or CIMA).
What we offer
We will provide you with the challenge of working on high profile conservation projects, where your work really makes a difference to the field of conservation in an area aligned to our strategic aims and broader global initiatives. In addition to training and development opportunities, we offer a competitive salary and benefits package, including generous pension contributions.
