Axon Moore are working with one of the UK’s leading Independent retailers.  They are recruiting for an Assistant Payroll Manager to join the Finance team located at our Head Office in Trafford Park, Manchester to support with the full payroll process across 4 separate company payrolls.

We are looking for a talented and highly motivated individual who is looking to continue their career within payroll and be part of a successful fast paced retail and wholesale business with ambitious growth plans. By supporting with the provision of a top class payroll service to the group, you will really make a difference to our business. Alongside your day to day duties you will also be involved in a number of exciting projects such as the implementation of a new HR and Payroll system.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Lead on the preparation of monthly payroll(s)(payrolls include a mix of hourly paid and salaried staff)
  • To deal with and action all payroll queries associated with the above
  • Starter forms: Review details and input to payroll / WFM system. Calculate pro rate salaries.
  • Leaver forms: Review and input to payroll / WFM system. Calculate holiday balances and pro rate salaries.
  • Amendment forms: Review and input to payroll / WFM system. Adjust hours for mid period changes, calculate back pay if necessary.
  • Collate, check and import store hours / warehouse overtime.
  • To deal with and action all payroll queries associated with the above.
  • Monitor and process hourly rate increases for ‘under 21’ employees.
  • Calculation of all taxes and statutory payments (NI, PAYE, SSP, SMP etc)
  • Deputise for Group Payroll Manager in completing monthly payroll sign off duties – pension assessment / payroll update / payroll reports to FC / BACS export.
  • Production and distribution of pay slips and P45’s
  • Liaise with third parties, i.e. HMRC P32 – FPS – EPS reconciliation and submission / Court Orders etc.
  • Interface with HR function and key contacts across the group
  • Support on testing and implementation of new HR / Payroll system
SKILLS MATCH:
  • Solid payroll experience of at least two years in a similar environment
  • SAGE (ideally SAGE 50)/Core HR would be beneficial
  • Intermediate or advanced Excel skills
  • CIPP qualified
  • Experience in a multi-site retail environment desirable
  • IT Literate – excellent working knowledge of word, excel, email, internet etc
  • Works well under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Flexible, professional, resilient
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Possesses a high level of confidentiality and sensitivity
  • Able to work well on own initiative and takes a pro-active approach to their work
  • Able to communicate with senior stakeholders within the business
