Reporting to the Finance Director, the successful Payroll Manager will be responsible for taking full ownership of the UK payroll function whilst working alongside a small yet high performing finance team. 

 

Additionally, the Payroll Manager will manage the day to day payroll operations whilst constantly striving to improve the internal processes and systems, through automation and by building strong working relationships across the business.

 

Payroll Manager Responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for providing all information required by the payroll bureau to enable the outsourced payroll to run accurately and efficiently, ensuring a positive and cooperative working relationship
  • Manage the integrity of payroll data and provision of data intelligence
  • Liaise with People team to Ensure that the payroll is compliant with current legislation and company policy
  • Liaise with external agencies and organisations such as HMRC and Local Government Pension providers
  • Provide timely data and appropriate analysis to meet requests of Finance department and People Director
  • To analyse and interpret payroll and HR related information and create business reports as required for information and analysis
  • Benchmark all employee benefits and coordinate review on an annual basis and analyse effectiveness
  • Manage the mechanics of all pay reviews in conjunction with the People team, benchmarking pay on an annual basis and provide analysis and projections for annual review in a timely manner
  • Establish and oversee a benefits programme appropriate for an employer of choice including pension, life assurance, health insurance and voluntary benefits. Ensure they are efficiently administered, effectively communicated and meets our requirements
  • Management of effective feedback and communication of payroll and processes to effect accurate information
  • Continuous improvement and enhancement of processes
  • To undertake specific projects to support and develop the strategic initiatives plan

     

 

The Candidate:

  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Experience in dealing with complex payroll queries
  • Any experience in HR or collaborating closely with HR will be a bonus
  • Strong systems skills with a good working knowledge of Excel
  • Good time management, organisational and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines
  • Excellent technical payroll knowledge and up to date skills in line with this year’s developments
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with people at all levels
