An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Finance Controller to support the Managing Director and Finance Director for a growing SME. The business is going through exciting times and is looking for an experienced Finance Controller to manage the finance function and assist in delivering the strategy to enable the business to achieve its full potential.

Job Purpose:

The Financial Controller will be responsible for the day-to-day bookkeeping in and management of the finance function and will report directly to the Managing Director whilst working closely with the Finance Director.

The Financial Controller will work closely with the other finance team members to ensure high service levels to both internal and external stake holders and appropriate levels of confidentiality and security.

Duties:

The main aim of the role is to ensure that the day to day finance procedures are operating efficiently so that the monthly management accounts are prepared in a timely and accurate manner. This includes:

*taking ownership and completion of the monthly management accounts pack to include Profit and Loss Account, Balance Sheet and detailed analysis with full reconciliations;
*providing Divisional Sales and Margin analysis, dashboard reporting and KPI reporting;
*day to day cash flow management;
*developing and maintaining the costing information;
*providing analysis for the manufacturing process: labour, materials and overheads cost and developing systems to record variance analysis and review of cost allocation assumptions and rates;
*Working in the heart of the business you will be working in an operational environment with stakeholders from non-finance personnel to directors;
*Producing annual financial information for external accountants and being the point of contact with the tax authorities for VAT and Intrastat returns;
*Challenging the norm and ensuring high quality financial controls are in place and standardising procedures across the business;
*Preparing and submitting quarterly VAT returns under MTD guidelines and EC Sales List returns
*
The Financial Controller will also be expected to become actively involved in the transition from SAGE Line 50 to the new ERP system, understanding how the various departments use the system and becoming the business 'Super-User'.


The Financial Controller will be supervising and actively supporting the finance department, whose duties.

Generic Duties:

*Comply with the company's relevant policies and procedures.
*Do all that is reasonably practicable to maintain a safe and healthy work environment, having regard to appropriate risk assessments and ensuring compliance with company and statutory requirements.
*Undertake such other duties as may be reasonably required by the company.


The Ideal candidate will have worked in a SME environment in a hands-on finance role.

*A QBE or qualified accountant ACCA/CIMA etc.
*Worked as a number one or number two in a manufacturing or engineering environment and understands the disciplines of costing and stock
*Strong operational exposure in working within the manufacturing sector;
*Good financial and analytical skills and a solid understanding of accounting software and especially Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word;
*Cash Management experience in a multi-currency export business;
*Strong drive to ensure there is continuous improvement and getting things done;
*A demonstrable record of achievement in the implementation and maintenance of finance controls;
*Able to communicate with all levels of the business, and
*A team player, with leadership qualities and the capability to take ownership of new projects
