A global (re)insurance business is looking to add to their Expense team with a talented accountant. The purpose of this role is to manage the accounting of operating expenses and accounts payable processes, through ensuring accuracy of International expenses within the general ledger. This newly created role of will be responsible for leading the recently realigned Expense Accounting team through a climate of change while ensuring business as usual processing is not disrupted.

This position will have responsibility for the following key tasks:

  • Assist in the delivery of strategic changes to the Expense Accounting and Accounts Payable team;
  • Responsibility for coordination of monthly processes of accounting for operating expenses within the general ledger;
  • Management and control of the accounts payable function.

Transformation of Expense Processes:

  • Support the implementation of the Target Operating Model for expense management, including
    • design and implementation of a shared service structure for expense processing activities
    • reviewing current processes and implementing efficiencies
  • Establishing robust processes and documentation across expense categories.

Management of Expense Accounting:

  • Ownership of expense balances in general ledger and the expense month end close process for the international business
  • Implement practices to automate calculations to increase accuracy and processing efficiency.
  • Ensure expense data in the general ledger is in line with guidance from Expense FP&A.

Oversight of Accounts Payable Function:

  • Management of the Accounts Payable function for the International business
  • Management of the Travel and Entertainment (T&E) processes and policies.
  • Make use of the available functionality of the AP system to monitor workflows across all European locations and strengthen controls

To be considered for this role you will need to be a qualified accountant (ACCA/CIMA/ACA) with proven experience in technical accounting team. You will also have established and run a shared service structure in an international environment. Being an advanced user of Excel and other accounting software is a distinct advantage.
