Manager - Accounting Policy & Control

An opportunity to use your technical accounting expertise for a Financial Services business who are keen to hire a permanent subject matter expert in all things IFRS.

You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders in development of IFRS accounting policies and you will be highly visible to senior management. You'll be in charge of onboarding new standards related to external reporting as well as new products.

we need someone who can also implement new processes, controls and ways of working for a growing Finance team of a relatively new Bank.

The position will require that you take the lead on the project and you have autonomy to make decisions. Therefore, strong communication and stakeholder management is a must along with experience of working in a senior project accounting role that has focused on technical accounting and policy.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development of group-wide accounting policies and the communication of these throughout the Group
• Maintain the group accounting policy manual.
• Accounting policy manual updates
• Liaise with auditors, make recommendations
• Evaluate new financial reporting requirements and oversee their implementation.
• Provide ad-hoc technical support to the CFO and reporting team across Finance as required.
• Provide technical accounting support to strategic projects as required.
• Undertake technical reviews of group finance statements to ensure compliance with group accounting policies and external requirements.
• Develop and implement technical training for key colleagues, particularly subject matter experts to build a higher level of general understanding of key technical issues
• Ensure the finance function fully considers and reflects the impact of changes in accounting standards/regulations, ensuring these are aligned with expectations of external auditors.
• Champion change and communicate plans to ensure change is successfully implemented within

Skills & Qualifications

• You will be a fully qualified accountant with substantial PQE experience in a technical accounting role
• Your background will include Accounting Policy & Controls and excellent IFRS knowledge
• You'll be ACA Qualified from the Big Four
• You must have experience in UK Banking
• An excellent understanding of the best practices used in developing and applying accounting policy is required.
• Strong communicator as you will be leading initiatives bank-wide
