Management accountant required for a 12 month fixed term contract on the outskirts of York. This roles key responsibilities will include preparation of monthly and statutory year end management accounts, preparation of balance sheet recs, and assistance with audit preparation.

Key accountabilities: 

Group Accounts

  • Assist with the production of the monthly management accounts, reporting packs and consolidation reporting to parent company.
  • Prepare the monthly consolidated balance sheet and cash flow.
  • Calculate accruals and prepayments
  • Ensure that all balance sheets are reconciled on a regular basis
  • Ownership of the fixed asset register, including disposals, additions and reconciliations.

Statutory Accounts & Tax

  • Assist with the year-end production of statutory accounts
  • Assist with the year-end production of tax packs for third party advisors.
  • Manage Intrastat and EC sales returns
  • Assist with the preparation of VAT returns.

Audit Responsibilities

  • Assist auditors with audit of Group companies
  • Produce analysis of various expense accounts
  • Assist with tax queries as required

Reporting & Controls

  • Approve purchase orders through Coupa PO system
  • Produce balance sheet reconciliations in line with the internal timetables
  • Complete month end tasks; post journals and prepayments, reconciliations, and other tasks as required.
  • Produce meaningful management account reports for issue to the business

Other

  • Providing support to treasury i.e. approving payments and reconciling daily billed cash
  • Validating payroll costs and obtaining sign off for payment
  • Work with the business partner team to understand variances to forecast
  • Other Ad-hoc tasks as required

Experience required: 

  • Team player with proactive positive attitude
  • A systematic approach and a good eye for detail
  • Able to use initiative and manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to make judgements on need for consultation and escalation
  • Competent with Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel
  • Finance qualification e.g. AAT, ACCA, CIMA, ACA
  • Experience of undertaking month end tasks, i.e. accruals and prepayments
  • A working knowledge of VAT rules
  • Able to establish and maintain internal relationships at all levels
