Property Accountant - Property Management - South London. Our Client is an established, independent firm of Chartered Surveyors. They have been operating mainly in the South for over a century offering their expertise on both commercial and residential portfolios. They are now looking for a driven Property Accountant who is willing to learn and grow within the role.

Reporting to the Head of Accounts THE ROLE will include the following duties:

  • Preparing quarterly Client Rent Statements, collating invoices, and checking same against entries. Submitting to Property Managers for approval and sending to clients.
  • Sending 'on account' payments to clients bi-monthly and on an ad hoc basis.
  • Sending quarterly VAT statements to Accountants where applicable and settling with HMRC.
  • Preparing the nominal transfer for both property management and purchase ledger modules to enable CMS bank movements then uploading to NatWest.
  • Reconciling the main bank account and investigating outstanding entries.
  • Preparing quarterly RICS Global Reconciliations.
  • Updating tenants with rent reviews and lease information. Updating tenant charges with rent increases. Actioning lease assignments, tenancy terminations and creating new tenancies.
  • Sending demands at the appropriate times.
  • Being responsible for the block accounts too; loading the yearly budgets and demanding same.
  • Charging out cash calls when advised during the service charge year.
  • Balancing the client statement to the general ledger and bank.
  • Collating year end service charge accounts and sending to the appropriate Property Manager for approval.
  • Executing pre-payments/accruals where necessary and adjustments where applicable.
  • Submitting to the Accountants for them to prepare the Accountants Report.
  • Making final adjustments and again obtaining approval from the property manager. Raising year end credits/debits, producing the Year End Report and demands to be sent to the tenants.

The Person to apply MUST have a few years commercial and/or residential client / service charge accounting experience. The candidate will have an in-depth understanding of how the property management industry and property accounting works. They MUST also be a confident and driven individual who thrives in a busy and commercial environment. Excellent communications skills are needed as this role is also customer facing. It will be highly advantageous if someone has used a property management system such as YARDI, TRAMPS or similar.
