The Opportunity

This is a superb role for someone looking to develop rounded practical accounting skills alongside CIMA / ACCA. 

Innovative group have an opportunity for an ambitious and confidence Management Accountant / Operations Analyst. It is a brilliant opportunity for someone with high ambition and a keenness to develop and progress their career swiftly.

You will support the aspirational Divisional Financial Controller with an extremely broad and interesting range of activities focused initially around developing the financial reporting and commentary linked to spending activities for a large-scale UK subsidiary. You will play a key role in producing and presenting full and detailed packs for the UK leadership team locally which outline trending patterns linked to overhead spends, actuals to budget and ongoing forecasts.

Your role will include a range of short, mid and long terms projects and you will really enjoy delivering positive change. 

You must be someone able to ‘bring the number to life’ through close business partnering and asking insightful and commercially astute questions. You will work closely with colleagues across operational and commercial functions of the business.  You’ll also be comfortable with hands on accounting requirements (journals, reconciliations etc). 

Alongside your project involvement key duties will include:

  • Producing and analysing weekly and monthly P&Ls to identify areas of overspend / variances 
  • Forecasting, budgeting (setting and ongoing review for various key cost centres), analysing and reporting around costs.
  • Capex projects – looking at return on investment appraisals and contributing to proposals for significant capital spend.
  • As part of a well-mapped succession plan it is hoped that you will progress your career swiftly within the group. 

The Business Requires

As Management Accountant you will need:

  • To have completed a relevant degree and have gained relevant practical accounting experience through a placement or since graduating. 
  • To be progressing through CIMA (or equivalent) with a commitment to becoming fully qualified ideally. 
  • Natural enthusiasm and a patient approach to learning new tasks / developing your skillset. 
  • Excellent working knowledge of Excel and confidence in your ability to analyse data. 
  • To be career focused with an appetite to progress.
  • Have an interest in business and a keenness to work in a business-facing role with plenty of interaction with non-finance colleagues. 
  • Have confident and professional communication skills. 
  • The ability to produce financial information in a suitable format for a diverse, non-finance audience.
