We are pleased to be working on a retained basis with a mission driven client who are committed to having a positive impact on the environment. They have a brilliant opportunity for a newly created Operations Finance Business Partner role, working closely with the Chief Operations Officer. This PE backed business has an ambitious growth strategy forecasting to more than double their revenue by the year 2022.
Our client currently operate across eighteen hubs within Northern UK and are looking to expand internationally by next year. As the business continues to expand, an improved understanding of the financial effectiveness of its operation is required. This unique opportunity provides the chance for an experienced finance professional to join an eco-friendly business in their fast-growth journey. The role will have a regular presence within the hubs, checking process compliance, understanding operational effectiveness, and working with Operational teams to design best practice. The Finance Business Partner will optimise the performance of routes, hubs, areas, and franchisees, completing profitability analysis and ensuring accurate reporting of charges.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Production of monthly financials, providing a transparent view of the franchisee cost and profitability as well as operational hub performance.
- Ongoing review of business unit performance and evaluation of operational decisions made, ensuring the right decision is made financially.
- Identify and investigate variances or loss-making activity and support the business in undertaking corrective action and challenge areas of underperformance.
- Conduct operational analysis to ensure value and process improvements are added to the business operations where possible; including route, stock and warehouse optimisation.
- Work closely with the COO, and coach the Operational team with their financial comprehension so a better understanding and control within the operational business can be obtained.
- Provide regular challenge to prevent organisational bloat and ensure operational teams are working towards the business strategy.
- Establish operational working practices that ensure accurate cost monitoring across Warehousing and Logistics, and control from the first step.
- Understand details of the cost structure to make thoughtful judgement calls in ambiguous environments where data may be difficult to procure.
- Provide financial analysis on strategic operational projects to drive optimum decision making.
- Assist in ensuring legal and tax compliance in the operation.
Along with having a passion for the mission of reducing waste and sustainability, the ideal candidate will demonstrate a proven experience in an operationally focused role within a FMCG, Retail, or E-Commerce setting. This ambitious individual will illustrate a curious approach, with a problem-solving nature and strong attention to detail. The ideal candidate will have gravitas; a confident and assertive communicator with effective organisational ability and time management skills, used to working to tight deadlines.

As this role offers regular travel, a full UK driving licence is required as well as a willingness to work flexibly. To take full advantage of the hubs operating at peak time, there will be an expectation that this individual will need to work some ‘Twilight’ shifts.
