Financial Controller – FTC

£70,000 - £75,000 + Bonus & benefits

 

Aila is excited to be partnered with the UK’s leading operator within its field and a large multi-site business in the recruitment of an ACA Qualified Financial Controller on a fixed term basis, covering Maternity leave for the next 15 months.

The Financial Controller role is responsible for assisting with the co-ordination and management of the Treasury function and for various month end accounting tasks and activities. Additionally, this role manages a Financial Analyst and works closely with other members of the Financial Control team.

 

Reporting to the Director, Group Financial Control, you will be required to effectively communicate and co-ordinate with senior management, and all other head office departments and personnel.

We are looking for an ACA qualified Controller with at least 5 years PQE, who is comfortable in working for a large corporate business and exposure to a complex and fast-paced environment. You will need to have a good understanding of treasury processes, month end reporting and experience in submitting large quarterly group VAT returns.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Manage the daily cash reporting and forecasting process
  • Lead 3x weekly calls with executive team summarising cash position and other notable events
  • Support month-end and year-end close process, being responsible for a number of balance sheet and P&L accounts, and reviewing those that the Financial Analyst is responsible for
  • Manage the Quarterly VAT reporting process, supervising the Assistant Financial Controller in this area
  • Manage the Monthly and quarterly bank reporting and covenant testing, supervising the Management Accountant in this area
  • Work with lender agencies and Financial Analyst to ensure quarterly interest payments are calculated correctly, regarding each lender and their WHT status
  • Ensure all financing payments are made on a timely basis, including quarterly interest payments, WHT, ad-hoc payments in respect of SBLC, RCF, etc.
  • Act as an authoriser on banking platforms
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
  • Ensure maintenance of effective electronic and hardcopy filing systems
  • Support development of best practice
  • Update policies and procedures in line with legislation
  • Perform other ad hoc duties as required (for accounts and other departments)
