Newly-created Systems Accountant role to join the wider Finance department of one of the North-West’s fastest-growing, PE-backed businesses based in Chester.

As Systems Accountant, you will report directly into the Finance Change and Development Manager and will be responsible for the initial technical and accounting integration of any acquisition, developments or initiatives. This position will also require involvement with other ah-hoc projects as and when necessary.

As Systems Accountant, you will hold the following key skills:

Essential Experience:

- Accounting qualification or training for qualification e.g. ACA/ACCA/CIMA.
- Experience working with Excel to an intermediate (or higher) standard.
- Experience working in a commercial finance department.

Desirable Experience:
- Experience working with various accounting packages such as Sage 50, Sage 200, Xero.
- Experience with integration of two different accounting systems
- Knowledge of IFRS
- Experience of group accounting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills

This is a highly varied role with responsibilities including but not limited to:
• Working with external advisors in order to complete any initial accounting and legal requirements
• Liaising with colleagues around the business on systems development required for integrations.
• Liaising with colleagues in Finance on systems developments required by the business
• Taking ownership of the Financial queries regarding the internal booking system and resolving any technical issues.
• Working with the existing M&A team to integrate the accounting systems of new business segments into the back office software through specifying, developing and testing any new system developments that are required.
• Working alongside the current Finance Mission team to specify the accounting requirements of any new developments.
• Assist in improving processes across the company to increase efficiency
• Working with the existing team to support projects and other aspects of financial reporting.
• Working with the existing team to support internal audit requirements
• Supporting external audit requirements.
• Liaising with other departments and supporting ad-hoc requests
• Take a proactive approach to developing the internal systems where you see improvements, to increase efficiency.
