Financial Controller

Elevation Senior Finance are delighted to be supporting a fast-growing, Chesterfield based distribution business as they seek to appoint a new Financial Controller. This specialist in wholesale & distribution of luxury goods are keen to bring in an ambitious Financial Controller who has the experience & drive to provide hands-on, day-to-day management of the Finance team, ensuring that accounting records are kept appropriately and that reported results comply with accounting standards and relevant legislation.

Your role will need to change and adapt with the needs of the business. Your responsibilities will include:

* Day-to-day management and coaching of our small Finance team
* Reviewing and approving supplier payments and weekly / monthly payroll
* Preparing monthly management accounts
* Preparing annual budgets and trading forecasts
* Liaising with external auditors regarding annual financial statements
* Providing weekly and monthly reporting
* Providing financial analysis to aid commercial decision making
* Ensuring finance systems are robust and support future growth activities
* Preparation of VAT and Corporation Tax returns
* Treasury / foreign exchange management

The ideal candidate will:

* Be an experienced Financial Controller (at least three years in a similar role)
* Have at least five years' relevant post qualification experience
* Strong interpersonal skills to build effective working relationships
* Excellent communication skills
* Be a strong team player, have self-motivation and also be able to also work on your own initiative
* Have an excellent knowledge of accounting systems such as Xero

This is a pivotal and senior role within the management team & would suit a qualified Chartered Accountant with at least 5 years' relevant post qualification experience. In addition to being a qualified accountant, applicants will need to have experience working within a similar sector and be able to demonstrate a track record of running a full month end process.
