Management/Cost Accountant

Sharp Consultancy are delighted to be working with an outstanding manufacturing business in Sheffield who have experienced consistent year on year growth, in sourcing a driven and ambitious Management/Cost Accountant to support the wider finance team and senior management team.

This role serves as the operational financial lead for the manufacturing plant and interacts with functional areas from the Operations, Planning, Sales, Engineering, and Shared Services teams.

The business have a strong presence in the marketplace, and are looking to recruit an ambitious individual, working closely with the Finance team in preparing the month end accounts and taking on further responsibility within the Finance team.

The role consists of the below areas of responsibility, with additional opportunities related to projects and subject matter expertise.

Role Specification:

*Reporting & Analysis- Provide accurate, actionable and timely financial reporting, variance analysis, and commentary to enable improved decision making and identification of opportunities.
*Managing Financials- Responsible for the accuracy of all plant financials including production volume, conversion costs, material usage variance and transfer pricing impacts. A clear understanding of inventory and the controls process are key.
*Planning- Partner with the Manufacturing Team on the development of weekly flashes and periodic forecasts based on fact or sound judgment.
*Problem Solving- Working with the operational team, proactively find and solve operational problems and inefficiencies in the plant's labour and material usage results.
*Capital Management- Support capital investment requests by providing accurate financial analysis that meets profitability goals.
*Projects- Identify areas of opportunity in the business associated with continuous improvement in areas of financial performance, business acumen, processes, standard work, systems and other areas.
*Compliance - Ensure compliance with internal controls in order to meet required testing requirements and interact with external/internal auditors as required.

Person Specification:

*Extremely strong analytical, research, and financial modelling skills.
*Cost Accounting in the manufacturing industry experience.
*Strong communications and process skills - able to evaluate and challenge the current state of the business.
*Detail oriented - able to drive down to a product level to develop an understanding of the business drivers.
*Ability to effectively influence key decision makers to support recommended areas of opportunity.
*Capable of communicating summarized results clearly and concisely at both a strategic and tactical level.
*Proficient computer and Microsoft Office skills with expertise in Excel data compilation and aggregation (i. pivot tables, VLOOKUP).
*Proficient in the use of ERP software (Syteline preferable but not essential).
