This diverse group of companies operates over a range of sectors and has a global reach. Their manufacturing division supplies specialist products to a range of industrial markets and has a truly customer centric approach, understanding their challenges and delivering outstanding results. Following an internal restructure at one of their divisions a new position has arisen at their Blackburn plant for a Finance Manager to oversee two operating companies and the reporting on some smaller UK legal entities. The ideal candidate must be a CIMA / ACCA / ACA qualified accountant with a manufacturing background and they can offer some degree of flexibility to the successful individual. The position will report into a Divisional Controller who is taking on a more global, strategic role so you can expect a high degree of autonomy but with the support there if required. The key duties for this position will be:

  • Prepare and review monthly management accounts
  • Compile management reporting packs with commentary
  • Commercial analysis to support decision making
  • Business reviews with cost centre managers
  • Support the annual budgeting process
  • Prepare forecasts, manage cost and working capital
  • Ensure submission of VAT returns, PAYE, payroll etc
  • Liaise with external auditors for all legal entities
  • Oversee small transactional accounting team

A key part of this role will involve working closely with operations and participating in production meetings to ensure standard costing methodologies are implemented and any variances are captured and discussed. Suitable candidates must therefore be able to demonstrate the ability to co-operate with non-finance staff throughout the business in addition to technical knowledge on the preparation of accounts under UK GAAP. The business uses Navision related software so some experience with ERP systems would be beneficial alongside strong Excel skills. The ideal candidate will need to be well organised with the ability to drive change to make process improvements and automate where necessary. This would be an excellent role for an experienced Financial or Management Accountant to step up to or Finance Manager / Financial Controller looking for more responsibility within a growing group of companies.
