An opportunity has arisen within a thriving division of a global media organisation for a qualified and experienced Financial Controller to manage the UK finance function. Reporting into the US based Director of this global talent management group, this is a varied role that requires a highly personable, competent and motivated individual who is comfortable managing and developing a small team whilst also supporting senior management with all aspects of finance, accounting and tax requirements. You will be the most senior finance individual in the UK and will need to be confident, approachable and adaptable, being able to gain the confidence of others.
This role will suit an individual who has a number of years PQE, ideally having qualified within a Big 4 or Top 10 firm, who thrives in a fast paced and dynamic organisation.  You will need to have a genuine interest in the media and the arts as you will business partner a number of individuals around the business.
The role:
  • Responsible for managing, coaching and developing the UK finance team in the UK
  • Prepare budget and regular forecasting of P&L and cashflow of the divisional companies, providing detailed explanations to senior management
  • Month end close management including analysis of actuals to budget, detailed balance sheet reconciliations, and journals
  • Establish close working relationships with and business partner the senior management team throughout the business
  • Evaluate and advise on the impact of long-range planning, introduction of new initiatives, strategies and regulatory requirements
  • Weekly cashflow forecasting for the business
  • Manage the local taxation requirements, being the main point of contact for any queries
  • Provide operational support across legal, business & HR
  • Ensure compliance with local regulations and company policies
  • Review/implement and continuously monitor/improve accounting controls, ensuring documentation
  • Work with the SSC to ensure accurate processing of O2C, P2P & R2R
  • Manage the year end and audit requirements
  • Ad hoc reporting, due diligence and analysis
The Person:
  • Fully qualified (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent), ideally having qualified within top 10 firm, with extensive PQE
  • Educated to degree calibre
  • Strong people management experience, with proven ability to develop a small team
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written & verbal
  • Working knowledge of SAP would be an advantage
  • US GAAP experience preferred, alongside sound knowledge of UK accounting/tax/payroll regulations
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Highly motivated with the ability to lead and inspire others
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a natural gravitas to influence and challenge others
  • Logical, solutions orientated, driven to succeed and able to work with an experienced senior management team
