Financial Controller

RattrayParkin is currently supporting the recruitment requirements of a high-growth, private equity backed specialist engineering business which, to support its continued development, is seeking to appoint a high-calibre Financial Controller. The details of this position are as follows:

Role

• Managing group accounts for 5 companies with a turnover of c£10m
• Managing a small team of 3 with remote management of an additional 1
• Budget, forecasting & cashflow management
• Completion of year end accounts and liason with auditors
• Compilation of R&D tax calculations
• Entering sales & purchasing transations
• Bank reconciliation & supplier payments
• Debt collection and dealing with customer queries
• Preparation of salary information and wages processing
• Costing and gross profit analysis
• Monthly visits to offices in Portsmouth
• HMRC submissions - VAT, PAYE, Intratstatsetc
• Commercial liaison with local management

Person

• 3 years PQE
• Systems & Data driven
• Ability to quickly pick up new MRP and accounting systems
• Ambition to progress to FD within 3 years
• High attention to detail and willingness to be in the detail
• Able to understand manufacturing & engineering at a high level
• Good communication skills from shopfloor to board
• Excellent excel skills and IT literacy

In addition to the above then previous exposure to a manufacturing/engineering would be advantageous, as would experience of working with 3rd party funders.
