This team works with large accountancy firms that audit public interest entities (PIEs) by identifying and prioritising what firms need to do to improve audit quality and holding them accountable for delivering it.
Description
The role involves:
- Managing enquiries into potential breaches by firms of auditing requirements including requesting and analysing information from relevant sources and, where appropriate, engaging with audit firms to develop remedial actions to resolve cases or preparing reports to consider whether an investigation should be opened.
- Reviewing and analysing audit firms' quality plans and root cause analysis process, and developing an understanding of how the firms are focused on and seeking to improve audit quality.
- Working closely with internal and external stakeholders to deliver an effective and efficient PIE Auditor Registration decision-making process; and reviewing and assessing applications from firms and individuals seeking authorisation to conduct PIE audits, including gathering the requisite evidence and intelligence.
Profile
This role will suit a motivated individual with external audit experience and a good understanding of the audit regulatory environment and market.
- Practical experience of working in the audit and/or regulatory sector.
- A relevant professional qualification (for example, ACA or ACCA).
- Experience of managing a portfolio of clients or cases.
- Excellent oral communication skills including the ability to listen, assess and assimilate others' perspectives, concerns and proposals.
- Excellent written communication skills including the ability to write compelling but concise reports in plain English.
- IT literate.
