We have been asked to recruit a Group Accountant for their head office finance team who are located in Mansfield. This is the perfect role for a fully qualified Accountant who trained in Practice, and who is looking to make a 1st or 2nd time move into Industry.
As Group Accountant you will be joining a fast growing finance team, and you will have the opportunity to continue developing your accounting skills.
Responsibilities will include:
Statutory financial statements (UK GAAP - FRS102):
- Preparation and review of statutory accounts including coordinating with External Auditors
- Managing the process of ensuring subsidiary statutory accounts are filed on time
- Liaising with External Auditors on audit queries across all subsidiary companies
- Review of tax entries in subsidiary accounts and ensuring appropriate disclosures in the financial statements
Group financial statements (IFRS):
- Liaising with External Auditors on audit queries during the year-end audit process
- Preparation of the company financial statements presented in the Group financial statements
- Owning the Group tax workings prepared for the financial statements
- Supporting the Chief Accountant with complex accounting areas, including acquisitions, share schemes, derivatives, and foreign subsidiaries
Group Strategic Investments:
- Ownership of the accounting of the Group Strategic Investments, including long-term financial assets and derivative financial instruments accounted for under IFRS 9
- Liaising with the Group Head of Strategic Investments to ensure transactions are appropriately understood, captured and accounted for in the Group financial statements
- Corresponding with brokers and external advisors to ensure appropriate accounting of cash flows relating to strategic investments
Hedge Accounting:
- Ownership of the accounting of the Group's foreign currency forward contracts using hedge accounting where appropriate
- Liaising with external advisors on valuations of derivative financial instruments and ensuring appropriate accounting in the Group financial statements
- Reviewing forecasts to appropriately assess hedge effectiveness
Team Management:
- Support, coach and manage two assistant group accountants, including completion of annual appraisals, ongoing performance management, and supporting them in attaining their professional qualifications
- Being a key active member of the Group Finance team, headed by the Chief Accountant
Key skills / qualifications:
- Qualified ACA, ACCA, CIMA
- Good knowledge of FRS102 and IFRS
- Excellent Excel Skills
- Strong organisational skills
- Be highly motivated and able to meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently but also enjoy working in a fast-paced, team environment
