An international law firm headquartered in London seeks a Financial Controller to join their growing firm.
With an established brand and a loyal client base, this firm has recently expanded into Asia and has plans to open further operations across Europe.
As part of the management team this role is key to driving "best in class" financial control across the business, working alongside their large group finance team based in London.
This role will lead a team of four accountants maintaining a first class service to their stakeholders, collaborating with key individuals within the wider finance team and organisation. You will lead the preparation, and audit, of the Group's Accounts, including all UK and International subsidiaries under relevant accounting standards. Key responsibilities include:

  • Alongside the Head of Finance, FP&A Manager, and Business Services Finance Manager, lead the "year end" approach, owning the timetable, risk and opportunities, review of all accounting judgement areas, and joint sign-off of the provisional results in conjunction with the CFO.
  • Using your technical background to provide guidance for the CFO/ Executive team, for special projects including outlining accounting treatment in relation to opening new international offices, changes in key accounting policies/judgments, or a major investment.
  • Responsibility for delivery of Group statutory accounts for all group entities under relevant accounting standards to the agreed timetable.
  • Manage Partner's drawings and distributions (in the UK and internationally) including payments, in line with the Drawings, Distributions and Capital policy.
  • Working alongside the Tax team to ensure partner accounting records (capital, tax and current accounts) are maintained to the highest standards, including the delivery of annual "Partner Statements".

The successful candidate will have the following attributes:

  • An ACA (or equivalent) qualified technical accountant with experience gained in a large practice and/or professional services environment.
  • Must be able to work effectively, build strong relationships and be able to influence within a complex and dynamic matrix organisation structure.
  • Strong analytical skills with an ability to provide insight as well as accurate and timely reporting, with an eye for detail.
  • Able to provide insight and to apply accounting standards in a commercial environment to enable the Executive team to make informed decisions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience of working in an international and multi-currency business.
  • Good understanding of FRS 102 and IFRS
  • LLP experience preferred but not essential.

This is the perfect role for an individual to step into well rounded leadership role, managing a high performing team whilst being a key individual in commercial decision making processes. This organisation has an amazing culture that promotes growth, development and supports innovation.
