Resourcery Group are partnering with one of the regions most recognisable brands as they look to appoint a new Head of Commercial Finance. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a respected and high performing commercial finance function in a well known and established business.

The successful candidate will be a proven leader with a wealth of business partnering experience and the ability to work with operations to drive business performance. This is a senior and highly visible role in the business and the successful candidate will deputise for the Finance Director and have autonomy to shape the commercial function and make an impact from day 1. 

The Head of Commercial Finance will be responsible for the co-ordination of management reporting, providing financial support, analysis and challenge in all areas of delivery across the business. They will aid in the delivery of the business’s objectives and targets through proactively evaluating and challenging business performance and cost control, adding value to and influencing decision-making by recommending solutions and options.


Key Responsibilities

• Working alongside the senior leadership team and in partnership with operations to drive business performance
• Providing insight and support using both financial and non-financial data and KPI’s, as well as challenging operations on performance, future plans and outlook
• Keep up-to-date of current and potential industry developments which could have a financial impact, conducting bench-marking of competitors, assessing the risks/opportunities and advising the FD in a timely manner
• Budgeting and forecasting - delivering the annual budget and quarterly forecasts on time and with maximum possible accuracy. Supporting the management team in the preparation of budgets and quarterly forecasts.  Sense checking the inputs before reviewing the outputs with the managers 
• Working with Operations in the preparation of budgets and forecasts; identifying and tracking further business efficiencies / risks. 
• Understanding and communicating current performance through detailed variance analysis; highlighting underlying business performance and identifying risks and opportunities
• Ownership of capex plans and capex business cases, together with local financial tender modelling
• Production of board reporting, review materials and budget packs in line with Central guidance

Key Experience

• Accounting qualification ACA/ACCA/CIMA
• Advanced PowerPoint and Excel skills
• Team Management experience
• Desire to progress within the company as this is a high profile role with great upwards potential; the ideal candidate should be able deputise for the Finance Director
• Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to both constructively challenge and influence at all levels
• An ability to establish credibility with senior leaders across the organisation and work with them to help provide valuable commercial support and business insight
• Have the ability to work independently and proactively, identifying where improvements can be made in all aspects of our activity without being pushed to do so
• Have the ability to make a significant commercial contribution in understanding the underlying performance drivers of the business
• Be a strong all-rounder with demonstrable track record in commercial analysis and evaluation and business planning / evaluation
