Axon Moore are working with a leading Financial Services business in the Preston area. PE owned and on a rapid growth trajectory, this is an excellent time to get involved in a steady growing business.
We have an opportunity for a Tax Accountant to join our busy finance team on a part time basis of 22.5 hours per week, to ensure tax compliance for the group.
As Tax Accountant you will report to the Group Financial Controller the successful candidate will become the tax expert for the group, taking control of the tax compliance and liaising with our external tax advisers on all tax related matters.
Duties:
As the role is part time, the salary is pro rata’d. The full time equivalent would be circa £60k.

As Tax Accountant you will report to the Group Financial Controller the successful candidate will become the tax expert for the group, taking control of the tax compliance and liaising with our external tax advisers on all tax related matters.
Duties:
- Taking control of Tax compliance for the Group and ensuring we are paying our fair share of tax
- Liaising with KPMG our external tax advisors on all tax related matters
- Preparing quarterly VAT returns in line with the partial exemption standard method
- Preparing quarterly QIPS calculations
- Completing year end alphapacks
- Reviewing final tax submission packs
- Design and delivery tax training to the business where required
- Ad hoc project work
- Optimising recovery of VAT under the current standard partial exemption method
- Ongoing project to approve a partial exemption special method with HMRC
- Advising on new business developments
- Managing any HMRC audits
- Ideally a qualified Tax Accountant, with good knowledge and experience of VAT
- We will also consider a qualified Accountant with a strong knowledge of TAX
- Academically strong with a track record of achievement
- Previous experience of/in financial services would be an advantage
- Highly engaged individual who wants to make a difference
- Strong technical mind set with a focus on compliance, but also the ability to think commercially
- Ability to effectively manage own workload to deliver against the accountabilities
- Ability to effectively communicate at all levels and manage external relationships with advisors and HMRC.
