Are you a CCAB qualified accountant or part qualified accountant with commercial accounting and/or audit experience?

Want to work in a friendly and supportive culture where you will be helped to realise your potential? Join our specialist verification team as a Senior Verification Adviser.

About us

The Trade Remedies Authority (TRA) is one of the first public bodies to be set up to meet the new needs of the UK following its departure from the European Union. We play a central part in ensuring that the international trading environment is fair as well as free, by protecting British businesses from unfair trading practices such as dumping of imported goods in the UK at low prices and trade-distorting subsidies. Join our friendly and supportive organisation of over 100 people, with our headquarters in central Reading.

The role

It is vital that we know our decisions are based on reliable, accurate and complete data putting our verification work at the heart of our investigations. The skills required to undertake verification work is similar to that utilised in commercial financial audit or forensic accounting work. Using your professional experience in this area you will support our investigators to increase their capability to assure the financial data they have received.

With this focus on helping us build our verification expertise, you will be part of a small team who will be instrumental in designing and delivering training for colleagues, coaching and supporting them on casework and providing independent quality assurance reviews of their work where appropriate. There may be opportunities to travel both domestically and internationally as you support the case teams.

Candidate requirements

You will have experience in a commercial financial data audit or forensic accountancy role, with a Chartered-level qualification or part-qualification from a recognised accountancy body. Crucially you will love analysing complex data, and you will have an inquisitive nature. With the capacity to identify areas that require further investigation, your exceptional communication and influencing skills will be underpinned by the willingness to work as part of a team. We will expect you to be comfortable explaining technical financial and accountancy issues to non-accountancy audiences, and you will be capable of building relationships based on trust – using a professional scepticism when facts need to be challenged.

Join us in this vital work, and you will be exposed to career defining opportunities.

With access to a total rewards package including flexible working practices to help you strike a good balance between your home and working life. We are committed to investing in our people to develop their skills and professional excellence.
