Want to work in friendly and support culture where you will be helped to realise your potential? Join our specialist verification team as a Lead Verification Adviser.
About us
The Trade Remedies Authority (TRA) is one of the first public bodies to be set up to meet the new needs of the UK following its departure from the European Union. We play a central part in ensuring that the international trading environment is fair as well as free, by protecting British businesses from unfair trading practices such as dumping of imported goods in the UK at low prices and trade-distorting subsidies. Join our friendly and supportive organisation of over 100 people, with our headquarters in central Reading.
The role
Our investigations are at the heart of our work. We need to know that the business and financial information we are using is complete, accurate and relevant. With your input, we can be certain that our cases will stand up to legal scrutiny and challenge. As a Lead Verification Adviser in the Verification Support Team, you will be critical to building the capability of investigators to establish reliability of case data. With a focus on helping us build our verification expertise, you will be instrumental in designing and delivering training for colleagues, coaching and supporting them on casework and providing independent quality assurance reviews of their work where appropriate. You will supervise and manage the work of a Verification Adviser who will work alongside you. There may be opportunities to travel both domestically and internationally as you support the case teams.
Candidate requirements
This is an exciting opportunity to make your mark on the future of the TRA. To be equal to the challenge, you will need to have a Chartered-level qualification from a recognised accountancy body, along with experience of leading or managing teams in a commercial financial data audit or forensic accountancy environment. Capable of meeting tight deadlines, you will be an inspirational person who enjoys upskilling colleagues and is adept at explaining accountancy and audit related concepts. On a practical level, you will enjoy working with complex data analysis, assessing information and identifying areas for further investigation. With exemplary communication and leadership skills, you will use your knowledge and skills to enable colleagues to develop similar skills to ensure that our verification work is at a high professional standard.
Join us in this vital work, and you will be exposed to career defining opportunities.
With access to a total rewards package including flexible working practices to help you strike a good balance between your home and working life. We are committed to investing in our people to develop their skills and professional excellence.
