Finance Manager - Schools Finance - Grade 6

Finance Manager with schools finance and DSG allocation experience required for a 6 month remote based role

You will be working for one of the largest and most diverse Local Authorities in the UK.

Your new role

You will lead a team of 10 to provide the best possible finance support to schools and the Council's education services. You will be advising on budgets, providing financial forecasts and thinking carefully about how resources are distributed and used to provide the children of Birmingham with a good education.

Being responsible for the allocation, monitoring and reporting requirements of over £678m of Dedicated Schools Grant funding (DSG) , a good working knowledge of the conditions of grant and legislative framework is essential.

Compliance with financial legislation, especially the Dedicated Schools Grant is vital.

What you'll need to succeed

You will have significant experience at Finance Manager / Head of Finance level within ideally local authority settings. And have worked in the allocation and monitoring of large scale DSG (dedicated schools funding)

CCAB-qualified, you'll have in-depth knowledge of management accounting, planning, budgeting, forecasting and performance management.

You've also advised at senior levels, worked successfully with partners and brought in change initiatives.

Articulate, resilient and politically smart, you can draw on excellent business acumen and innate determination
